To assist veterans in navigating the complex web of services and benefits available, IDVA runs full-time and part-time (itinerant) offices across the state. These offices are staffed by Veteran Service Officers (VSOs), fellow veterans who are experts on federal, state and local veteran resources. FLUTES FOR VETS

Our mission is to help our veterans find a calming for their lives through playing the Native American woodwind flute. Our program provides free flutes and free lessons for each veteran. HINES MEDICAL CENTER- OUTREACH

At Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, our health care teams are deeply experienced and guided by the needs of Veterans, their families, and caregivers. Located 12 miles west of downtown Chicago and at six out patient clinics across the region, Hines VA offers primary, extended and specialty care to Veteran patients in the Chicago area. We are the largest VA in the state of Illinois, where more than a million Veterans reside. The hospital treats more than 44,000 veterans from World War II through the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Veterans' Home at LaSalle has been home to resident veterans since 1990. Located on the northwest side of LaSalle in LaSalle County, the home offers space for 190 resident veterans including rooms for those requiring memory care.

Bridges is a senior community center that offers information, education, recreation programs and support for older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers. We provide support to Peru and the lower 27 townships in LaSalle County, IL. It is funded in part by United Way of Eastern LaSalle County and United Way of Illinois Valley.

MIDWEST SHELTER FOR
HOMELESS VETERANS

Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a non-profit agency that provides housing, supportive services, and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency. Founded in 2007, by Vietnam War veteran Bob Adams and Gulf War veteran Dirk Enger, MSHV operates on a vision to end veteran homelessness so that no person who has defended our homes goes without a home.

ILARNG - FAMILY PROGRAMS

To establish and facilitate ongoing communication, involvement, support, and recognition between National Guard families and the National Guard in a partnership that promotes the best in both.

OSF HEALTHCARE- KING CARE-A-VAN

The OSF King Care-A-Van is a mobile health center, operated by OSF HealthCare, that has been serving communities within Bureau, Henry, LaSalle and Putnam counties since spring 2019.Aimed at serving primarily rural residents, the OSF King Care-a-Van works with employers, churches, schools and community organizations to connect individuals - who might otherwise be unable to access care - to area health resources.

HINES VR&E

You may receive Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, education, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Service members in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.

SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

Disability benefits provide modest coverage for severely disabled workers and their dependents, including our wounded warriors. Some wounded warriors and Veterans who have a compensation rating of 100% P&T are unaware that Social Security may expedite the processing of their disability claims. In addition, Veterans may not realize they can sometimes qualify for both VA and Social Security benefits.
